Martes

evil freaks me the @#$#! out
-El Dude

I am watching the Bad Lieutenant with Nicholas Cage. He is very very very bad. Muy malo! It takes place in NO, after Katrina, and one of the burial services reminds me of the Obeah (like Vodoo) flavored services in Jamaica.

The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing but

I...
I love it when you read to me and
You...
You can read me anything
-The Magnetic Fields

Bads dreams

Seriously. That which passes, passes like chemical warfare.

I had a dream that i lived on another continent than all my best friends.

I had a dream that i was divorced yet still loved my ex-wife's child as my own.

I dreamed that lemons (which i adore!) were all filled with my pee since the time before time. "D'oh!"

I dreamed that my baby seester was turning 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drinking your own pee?!!!!!!

what have we done?

with a little help from our friends

Only Human, photo by Lola Elkin

seasons will pass you by
i get up, i get down
-Yes

Well, we had our acoustic gig and it went very well. There was a big crowd, lots of friends and we went on last (we thought we would be opening). We got the most applause and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Tamara's voice was lights out. Pete and Fernando played acoustic and i played tambourine with different drum sticks and mallets to change the pitch and volume. We actually played 7 songs when we had only practiced 6, but everybody wanted another tune. It was great fun. It was a long time coming for Pete, Tamara and i, considering we first started in Dec of '08. Now to finish the demos and get some electric gigs!

Picnic

14:13

Well, it took two hours but now the sliding doors in my closet finally close now. So i can get to my drums and store more clothes. Hooray!

Then eat, shower and get to Pete's for practice at 16:00. We practiced electric last night. Then the show tomorrow. No rest for the wicked. Woo hoo!

No creo mis ojos!

The path is clear
though no eye can see...
-Genesis

I don't believe my eyes!

I've never seen anything more beautiful!

It's the 87th minute of the return leg and Atletico is up 6-1 on aggregate over Racing Santander. This means that Atletico Madrid will meet Sevilla in the Copa del Rey Final in May. They have a chance to win their first cup in ages. And more importantly, the first since i have been a fan and living here. Plaza Neptuno, where Atletico fans celebrate, will be crazy.

It's over they won! On to the Copa del Rey Final!

Now as the river dissolves into the sea
and Neptune has claimed another soul

FLTR

photo by Lola Elkin, doctored my me

So....the band has an acoustic gig on Sunday, opening for a friend at a cool bar in the center called Picnic. So i think it'll be Tamara, Pete and Fernando on guitar and myself on the floor tom and tambourine. We'll see. At first i wasn't going to play, and then i heard Fernando y Pete playing acoustic on Sunday and i thought of a few ideas. Drums play a unique part in our sound. I'm not sure i can explain it, but it's different from any other band i've ever played in and i really enjoy it. And as far as the electric stuff goes, the drums are starting to take form.

Working a lot which is sweet. Not so tired, which is cool. I have recovered the late night for the Stupor Bowl.

I am almost done with my first translation ever, from Spanish to English. It's for la Profesora's CV. I could never do English to Spanish.

Stupor Bowl Redux

Missed Opportunities: Would that i could have broken into Mellencamp's little pink house to lick his tears when the Colts lost

Saints win! Great game. Indy choked like a goat eating a Coke can, which makes me think of John Cougar Mellencamp. It ended at 4:00am. I was asleep by 5:00. Woke up at 11:30 and went to work. Got home at 22:30. Oy! Now wash the Gumbo pots, make grilled cheese and then bed. Staying up all nite is a young man's game and i am no longer young. I used to be. I was a kid once too.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that we would meet again, some sunny day?
-Pink Floyd

So tired. Must eat grilled cheese. I remember throwing rocks in the creek with Annie. I think the Seahawks were in the Super Bowl once. I think i really hate wearing pants. Can't wait for Primavera (Spring).

Games without frontiers

Hans plays with Lotte, Lotte plays with Jane
Jane plays with Willi, Willi is happy again
Suki plays with Leo, Sacha plays with Britt
Adolf builts a bonfire, Enrico plays with it
-Whistling tunes we hid in the dunes by the seaside
-Whistling tunes we're kissing baboons in the jungle
It's a knockout
If looks could kill, they probably will
In games without frontiers-war without tears
Games without frontiers-war without tears
Jeux sans frontieres

-Peter Gabriel

Life continues. I think the Colts will win and cover, although i hate Peyton and the entire redneck, kiss your sister, fry your steak state of Indiana. I love New Orleans. I love gumbo. I love crawfish.

I had a date last night. I've had a few. I'm not sure why i suddenly have become attractive to women, but i'm gonna go with it. Nice gal. She asked me out. Red head. I spent one section of the evening wondering if her carpet matched the drapes. Does that make me a bad person? Of course not. I was bad long before this.

Sorry Mum. i'm incredulous you still read this. If i didn't have to proof it, i'm not sure i'd ever read it.

May God's love be with you

simple things

Or maybe when you're older, and you're thinking back
You might recall
Now did I act carefully, did I do right?
Or were we meant to be, all of our lives
In love and harmony, all of our lives?
-Genesis

Some memories last forever - like Annie and i throwing stones in the creek at Wolf Trap. She was so into it! Sue asked me to watch her and had cleverly equipped her with a top that had straps to hold her by when she bent down to pick up rocks from the creek bed.

No one lives forever. Nothing lasts forever - except memories and good times. This is why i keep breathing.

LUNES
I am slowly re-watching the new Battlestar Galactica (aka Battlestar - smoke - cracktica, cuz you can't get enough). I cannot recommend it enough it. Best Sci fi TV series ever. Just lights out! I can't feel my legs i am so tired. But it was a good day of teaching, from 13:00 til 22:00. I just love teaching. What can i say? I am what i am. It took me 38 years to figure that out, but i finally did. I love everything about teaching. I am a geek. I was born to it. I'm thinking about getting married and having some kids and becoming a beet farmer in Mayapur, India. I just need to find the right woman. And the right child. Or i'll find one there. Indian chicks are hot.

I am overwhelmed with nostalgia, that i might be leaving in 6 months. It's February 2010 and we don't even have flying cars! Bite me. I'm so disappointed! This was my oasis from a bad time. It wasn't perfect (what is?!). But it was good enough. I had a great weekend. I helped Cara clean her house on Saturday because her lame ex-husband would not help her clean out his stuff before her new flat mate moved in on Sunday, so i helped. And then my friend Lola had an art exhibit premier. It was great. I bought a picture. It may be the album cover of our first album.

Some days suck ass. Some are lovely. The past few have been lovely and there's nothing cooler than gratitude.

MIERCOLES
Things that pass, pass like crowds. The days and the night have all become one. Work is constant and fun. I am teaching the Tylenol Recall Case of 1981 for the 3rd or 4th time. Students love it. It is the best primer on marketing of the last 40 years. Next will be the New Coke marketing disaster . It's another fave of mine.

I have seen much. It's all been enlightening. The things i remember are the thongs i will never forget.
